Magyar Telekom aims for innovation
Our company considers it a major objective and an important element of our daily job to actively keep track of innovation trends, technologies and solutions that provide new opportunities, as well as to offer such solutions to our customers so that we can embark on a journey to the future together.
On this note, we are among the first telecommunications companies in Hungary to offer IPv6 (the future’s network addressing form) technology based solutions both to our residential customers and business partners. From the fall of 2009 IPv6 (Internet Protocol version 6) based solutions became available for testing, whereby the already well known functions provide even better customer experience for our clients.
Renewable services
IPv6 technology extends already existing services with new, unprecedented functions, speed, and level of security:
More partners, more technologies
We make the features of IPv6 network addressing available for small and medium enterprises, large businesses and residential customers alike, in the introductory phase on traditional fixed (ADSL) and optical technology, using Windows Vista/7 or Unix/Linux operating systems. In the near future, we intend to roll out our newest technology to our cable television and mobile network.
Preparations
The quality provision and introduction of this new technology was preceded by a long process of preparation. After working out the concept, first laboratory tests, then, during spring 2009, live operation tests were performed, based on which, in the fall of 2009, we started to upgrade our live systems to fully support the new technology. This work shall continue until support for the new protocol is introduced in all network segments.
Pilot phase from 2009
For the seamless introduction of IPv6 technology and to test our technical readiness under live operational circumstances, we need help from our customers to provide us with feedback and requirements, that will later help us develop the commercial service.
